Summer Outreach 2004 West/Canada Participant

This year was my first time going on SOR or any mission trip for that matter. I went to both the Toronto trip and the trip to the west. I wasn't sure exactly what was going to happen or what I was going to do. All I knew was that I was going to share the gospel with others. The rest was up to God for me to follow.

During the Toronto trip I was struggling. It got hard for me mentally, physically, but mostly spiritually. Even though it was hard I’m glad that it happened. If it wasn't for those hardships I would've had no focus at all throughout the whole trip. It was those hardships that kept me in order with God. Now that I look back on the trip, it was so blessing. I truly saw the Holy Spirit work in many ways. Through prayer, praise, worship, and it even worked through the team. I will always remember my first mission trip. And I will always remember the wonderful things our Father did through our team.

After the Toronto trip I got ready for the West. I would say that this trip was different from Canada, but none the less it was still a great blessing. It was so great to see so many young Koreans all gather to worship our God. Just seeing everyone praising and praying really touched my heart. Then having the rally at the church in St. Louis was wonderful. Not only did we worship together, we got to have fellowship and became friends with the youth group. Then we got to help at a VBS. the children there really amazed me. These little kids knew the gospel. They knew the God loves us so much to send His one and only son to die on the cross for us, so that we can be saved. When I heard that from the kids I was completely touched. To know that God works through even the youngest of kids amazed me.

These two trips truly impacted my life. I didn't expect to receive much, but I got more than what I could ever imagine. It was such an awesome experience. Not only did I get to reach out to others and show them what God's love can do, but I also realized that God can work through many ways with many people. It also showed me what it truly means to go "higher" for God and that great things can happen when you are totally obedient to Him.
